My story before Google. I am mathematician and Applied AI researcher by training and mindset.

Asset Management. I completed my PhD at Stanford when Lehman collapsed - investment opportunities at that time were too attractive to miss so I joined asset management. The fund I managed was long technology stocks since early days of the crises and well outperformed the market. I observed that my peers in asset management invested by reading sell-side reports and speaking to analysts. Views across reports and analysts looked same to me, and I aspired to understand industry trends first-hand and do analysis which other investment managers missed.

Management Consulting. AI spring began and organizations wanted to understand AI, so I could leverage my Applied AI background for first-hand experience by helping non-public companies on AI use cases and deployments. Three years later it became obvious that AI impacts every industry s business model and I joined McKinsey which wanted to establish its AI transformation capabilities, so I moved fully from investments back to my original roots which is Applied AI.

Banking. Leading AI transformation for a Global Systemically Important Banks (G-SIB) is once in lifetime experience, so I joined Standard Charted Bank. Applied AI Products Management was among many capabilities I helped the bank to build.
